Anyways, the same weekend we celebrated Bridget's 5th Birthday with a big backyard barbecue we also had her very first dance recital. Needless to say it was a very busy weekend. Bridget has been doing a ballet/tap combo class since the fall and has absolutely loved it. Her school puts on an end of the year dance recital and this year it was held at the Ikea Performing Arts Center in Renton. It was the first time I and been there and it was a really nice facility although it seemed to be only a 1/3 the size of the Auburn PAC where I always had my dance recital so it was pretty tight when it came to seating. On the other hand the greenroom was a hundred times better than Auburn's. Bridget didn't hardly seem nervous at all, she breezed through the dress rehearsal had absolutely no problem with the actual performance. Her class was just about dead middle of the recital so after she was done I went backstage and got her so she could watch the rest of the recital with us. Then at the very end she and the rest of her class had to go back up for a little freestyle dance and the final bow. She walked down the whole auditorium and up onto the stage all by herself. Unfortunately at this time Maggie (who up until then had been sitting very quietly and well behaved) became very, very angry that she didn't get to go up on stage and dance too. Poor Maggie, she wants to be a ballerina so badly.
So here are a few pictures I managed to take before the recital as we were getting ready. Of course there was no photography allowed during the performance and things got a bit chaotic after so this is all I have. We did have pictures professionally taken at the studio and we also ordered the dvd of the performance, so if any of you want we will have some wallets to hand out and you can watch her dance.
