A quick chicken update

So here we are going into week two. The chicks are rapidly growing now, I swear if you watch them closely you can almost see it happening! They are loosing all the downy fluff and in place have prickly pin feathers. They are able to flap and fly enough to perch on top of the feeder and water bottles so we have to keep the lid or else we would be chasing them around the house. They are much louder now too, they actually woke be up the other morning even though they are on the furthest most part of the house from my bedroom.

PJ is moving along on the coop too. He thinks he has about two more days of work on it then it's my turn to paint the inside and out. He still needs to put in the insulation, cover the run in sand, enclose the whole thing with wire mesh, put on the siding and roof. We are supposed to have good weather this weekend so hopefully we can get to the painting stage by next weekend.

Here you can see the nest boxes hanging off the side and the roost inside. The big open part will be the main door for me to use for cleaning the coop. The top of the nest boxes will be hinged for easy access to the eggs.
